Pretty Bird
Pretty Bird

A woodpecker visits our bird feeder in the front yard. Thanks to our friend Kay in our old hometown of Summerville, SC for identifying this bird for us.

Waterfall

5/8/2005 5:30:30 PM

We went on a picnic for Mother's Day and discovered this waterfall. We were at Wautaga River, which is created by the Wautaga Dam. The river was very still and we couldn't understand where the sound of running water was comming from--until we walked to the water's edge and found the waterfall. Beautiful!

Blackie got to the water's edge--it was muddy down there. Fortunately we got most of it off before we got back to the van!

We planted this in memory of our cat, Buttercup.

The new porch is taking shape. This time it's being made of wood with a gabled roof. If the roof comes off, the whole house will go with it.

Blackie's Graduation class! He took a beginner's obedience class at PetsMart and did fairly well. We don't work with him as much as we should, unfortunately. When we get a couple of treats for him, he'll anticipate what we're going to ask him to do like sit and shake hands, or sit and lie down. I laugh and tell him he cheats!

Molly No More

This little goat is growing up fast. I thought she was so cute and named her Molly, but as she got bigger realized she is a he so now I have to call her Little Billy. He's quite tame and lets me pet him but won't eat out of my hand yet.

The Roan Groan Bicycle Race is about a 30 mile race from Elizabeton to almost the top of Roan Mountain (1700 ft to 5000 ft). Anybody game next year?

This is the Little Doe River, which we cross about a mile before getting to our house. During the bicycle race Jerry's post was was at the intersection nearby. He'd stop traffic on the side road so the bicyclists' could pass safely.

Baby Goat

7/18/2005 5:38:51 PM

This baby was 3 days old and still had the umbilical cord attached. She hiked all the way up the hill and spent the afternoon in the curve of that root. I was concerned about her because she looked so young, so Josh carried her down the hill. Mamma goat hollared all the way behind them.

Blueberry Pickin'

We love it when the clouds are below the mountains. By the way, we have a spotlight on the flag set on a timer that comes on at night. Shortly after we moved here a neighbor told us that the other neighbors told them that they knew we'd be good neighbors since we fly the American flag! It does look nice from the road below.
