Wish I knew the name of the purple flowers. You can see a bit of the mountains to the left of the porch.

Lounging in the hammock is great, but getting down and up the hill isn't so much fun.

We're learning about Tennessee history. In March 1775 a company purchased 20 million acres of land (most of what is now Tennessee and Kentucky) from the Cherokee Indians. We watched a reenactment of this at the amphitheater behind the Fort. Very well done and a lot more fun than just reading about it.

Little Bear and the stuffed animals. The doll is Sally Ann, a doll Santa brought when I was little. The quilt was made by Margaret Lake, Jerry's mother. And for the Iditarod fans, the picture is of Don's cabin, on the Iditarod trail.

We burned a pile of dead tree limbs. The hot dog fork was taped to a pole, because the fire was too hot to stand any closer.

One of the last pictures taken of Buttercup before she died from cancer of the tongue. We spoon fed her with an infant spoon for 3 weeks. She finally got to where she couldn't even swallow. We had a little funeral and burial in our yard.

Blackie

9/22/2004 5:06:25 PM

This is the newest member of our family. Blackie wandered in the same afternoon that we buried Buttercup, our beloved calico cat. We tried to find his owner, without success. So, we are learning to be doggy parents, a new experience for us. He has a great personality. Unfortunately, Little Bear, our remaining cat, doesn't agree yet.
